Montana State Bobcats Earn Sixth Seed in FCS Playoffs

Bobcats to Host Familiar Foe North Dakota State on Saturday

BOZEMAN, Montana - The Montana State Bobcats have earned the sixth seed in the 2023 FCS Playoffs and will host a familiar foe, North Dakota State, on Saturday. The Bobcats earned the seed after a 9-3 regular season that included a share of the Big Sky Conference title.

This will be the fourth meeting between Montana State and North Dakota State in the FCS Playoffs, with the Bison holding a 3-0 advantage. The two teams last met in the 2021 quarterfinals, with North Dakota State winning 38-10.

The Bobcats are led by quarterback Tommy Mellott, who has passed for 2,582 yards and 24 touchdowns this season. Running back Isaiah Ifanse has rushed for 1,190 yards and 15 touchdowns, while wide receiver Ravi Alston has 64 catches for 901 yards and nine touchdowns.

North Dakota State is the top seed in the FCS Playoffs after finishing the regular season with a 12-0 record. The Bison are led by quarterback Cam Miller, who has passed for 2,456 yards and 27 touchdowns this season. Running back Kobe Johnson has rushed for 1,061 yards and 14 touchdowns, while wide receiver Zach Mathis has 58 catches for 926 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. MT on Saturday at Bobcat Stadium in Bozeman, Montana. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
