Avalanche Finish Off 3-Goal Comeback to Beat Stars 4-3 in OT
Wood Scores 1103 in OT as Avalanche Extend Series
The Colorado Avalanche rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Dallas Stars 4-3 in overtime in Game 5 of their second-round playoff series on Thursday night at Ball Arena. Nathan MacKinnon scored twice for the Avalanche, including the tying goal with 2:39 remaining in regulation. Cale Makar and Valeri Nichushkin also scored for Colorado, while Joe Pavelski, Roope Hintz, and Jason Robertson scored for the Stars.
The Avalanche now lead the series 3-2 and will host Game 6 on Saturday night at Ball Arena.
The Stars took a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by Pavelski, Hintz, and Robertson. The Avalanche got on the board in the second period on a goal by Makar, and Nichushkin made it 3-2 late in the third period. MacKinnon tied the game with a power-play goal with 2:39 remaining in regulation, and Wood won it in overtime with a shot from the slot.
